The students of the Vocational School of Coding and Innovations from the town of Burgas took part in the Code Week European Coding Week. The school organized three events: CodeBS: Dobots, CodeBS: Pepper and CodeBS: Аrtificial Intelligence, and they were held at the school campus from October 8th till October 10th 2018 г.
All of the 8th grade students joined the events. They programmed dobots and the humanoid robot Pepper that the school has to assist in the education of their students. After being introduced to the main capabilities of block programming by the instructors Alexander Ivanov, Mariana Encheva and Danaila Stamatova, the students worked in teams and built their own scenarios that their applied to the robot Pepper. He walked along a pre-set route, made hand gestures, danced and sang, had dialogues in English and even recited a passage from “Hamlet” to celebrate the Week of Reading. All students expressed their satisfaction as, in addition to getting to know the basic rules and structures of programming, they also had fun with Pepper the robot.
